The aTB team
We are here for you

Dr. h.c. Kurt Heinz Reitz
Executive Director
Hello, I'm Kurt and 20 years ago I took over this fitness center - which had already existed for over 30 years - with the aim of continuing the health-oriented studio. From then on it was called Fitnesscenter aTB and since January 1st, 2020 it has been converted into a GmbH.
After completing my business studies in Mainz, with periods of study in Dijon and London, I worked in Frankfurt and Munich and ended up in Berlin in 1990. In addition to the focus on tourism - which I teach at various universities in Germany and abroad - I also contributed to the studio as a fitness trainer.
From 2007 to 2013 I also helped set up a tourism faculty at the university in Batumi / Georgia. I have been back at aTB in Berlin since 2013, although I have also spent various voluntary periods abroad – since then in Uzbekistan, Mexico, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Laos and many more.
My credo is Carpe Diem – Don’t worry, be happy.

Frank
Owner
Hello dear friends of aTB. My name is Frank Friedrichs and I have been the new owner and manager of aTB since mid-2024. By purchasing the Fitnesscenter aTB GmbH, I have managed to prevent the already certain closure of this unique gym, which has existed in the Bergmann district for 20 years.
As a native Berliner, I have been working in the sports and training sector since 1993. During this time, as a co-founder of Hertha BSC's youth academy and as a long-time youth coach and coordinator, I accompanied the club's most historically successful phase.
After the successful conversion into a youth performance center certified by the German Football League, I set up my own football school. The players I trained were able to take part in world and European championships as well as other international competitions such as the UEFA Champions League. Over 100 youth players from my football school have made the leap into "big football" in the past 20 years.
My big goal is to preserve the charm and diversity of the aTB and at the same time to develop high-quality training concepts for members, visitors and guests in the future.

Nick
Sports and Fitness Merchant
Hello, I'm Nick and I'm 22 years old. I've spent the last 2 1/2 years at aTB training as a sports and fitness salesman, which I recently completed.
I'll be supporting the team for a while. From October 2025 I'll start a course of study where I can use the commercial understanding I've acquired as a basis.
Regardless of that, I'll occasionally drop by aTB!
Apart from that, I like playing ball sports. When I was a child, I played soccer for 8 years, then moved to a competitive volleyball club for two years and currently still enjoy playing beach volleyball.

Marcel
Instructor, Trainer
Hey, I'm Marcel. In my eventful life, on paths that aren't always straight, I've learned one thing to take to heart: it's important to find a balance between work and rest phases.
Whether in the traveling circus, running my own fashion label, in the tailor's workshop, in the theater, in the catering industry or when setting up a stage. It was always important for me not to lose communication with my body.
Get moving - Be in motion
Be moved - Move something
As a course leader, I'm now looking forward to sharing these experiences with you. I have successfully completed:
- B license and A license
- Nutritionist license

Listen to your body. Through your passion and courage you change your reality on all levels. This is the focus of my individual or group-oriented work.

Doing sports has become a new passion for me and it's not unlikely that you'll see me training in the gym from time to time. You're welcome to come to me or ask questions at any time, I'm happy to help.
My goal is to help people improve their fitness and improve myself in the field.

Tomi
Trainee for Service Management
Hi, I'm Tomi and I'm 18 years old. Over the next four years I will be completing my training and my A-license as a trainer at the aTB fitness center.
I was motivated to do sports as a child. I started learning to swim at the age of 6 and received my gold swimming badge. I also started with the Boy Scouts very early on, where I expanded my knowledge of nature and camping. After that I was in the Aikido club for a while to "try out" the martial arts.
My goal is to expand my language, sports and nutrition knowledge at the end of the training. After my training I want to study to become a nutrition expert to help people lead a healthier life.
